The 2019 World Cup’s knockout stage kicks off on Saturday with the round of 16 as one of the favorites takes on a big understand. Nigeria faces Germany with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line. Germany won Group B with 3 straight wins, scoring 6 goals without conceding a goal. record and didn’t concede a goal.

However, Nigeria was in a tough Group A that included France, Norway and South Korea, but they sneaked through as one of the four third-place teams to move on. Thanks to Argentina and Thailand who did Nigeria a favour before heading home.

In view of the differences in the qualification status of both teams and pre tournament ranking, Nigerians have gone biblical by describing Germany as Goliath and Nigeria as David.

Though the Biblical Goliath was more powerful than David, he lost the battle to David miraculously. Every pundit had written off Nigeria, but Nigerians are holding on to miracle to win the encounter.

Meanwhile, the head coach of Nigeria women’s team, Thomas Dennerby, has said his ladies will take the game to the Germans, in today’s World Cup Round of 16 clash at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble.

the two countries had met in this tournament in the past, Germany which won both encounters thrashed the Super Falcons 4-0 in a group phase match at the inaugural FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in China 28 years ago, they could only struggle to defeat Nigeria 1-0 in another group phase match at the tournament, which they hosted eight years ago.

Though the odds favour Germany, will miracle achieved victory for the Super Falcons?
