The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) has officially appointed Mrs. Vera Hycient Okechukwu as its new secretary following the redeployment of former secretary Akeem Rabiu-Okikiopusu by the Lagos State Sports Commission.
In a press statement, LSFA confirmed that the appointment aligns with the 2023 LSFA Statutes (Section 5d), which grants the board the authority to appoint a substantive secretary. The decision was unanimously ratified by all 10 board members during an emergency meeting.
With a strong background in football administration, Vera Okechukwu has served under various secretaries and worked with top clubs, including:
✅ Assistant Secretary – Bayelsa Football Club
✅ Team Manager – Cerezo Queens, Ilorin
✅ Administrative Officer – Pepsi Football Academy (under Late Coach Kashimawo Laluko)
She holds a B.Sc. in Physical & Health Education from Lagos State University and a Professional Certificate in Sports Management from the National Institute of Sports.
Her appointment marks a new chapter for LSFA as she brings years of expertise and leadership to the role.
