In a dramatic and closely contested election, Dele Ajayi has emerged victorious, securing a second third term as the Chairman of the Ondo State Football Association. The election, held at the Police Officers Mess in Akure, was nothing short of a thriller, keeping football stakeholders on the edge of their seats.

Ajayi clinched the win by a razor-thin margin, securing 12 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Dele Ologbese, who garnered 9 votes. Meanwhile, Barrister Remi and Henry Abiodun faced disappointment, as they received no votes.

The race for Vice Chairman was equally intense, with Demeji Abimbola narrowly edging out Henry Akingboju, winning by just one vote (10-9).

For the board positions, the following candidates secured their spots:
Southern District: Babatunde Igbasan & Akindipe Akisola
Central District: Aladetoyinbo & Isaac Olagunju
Northern District: Aborowa Gabriel, Daodu Alexander & Mohammed Abiodun

The election was keenly observed by top football stakeholders, including Ameenu Mohammed, representing the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and Ekiti FA Chairman, Oluwole Oloworemo, who attended as the South-West representative.

This victory marks a new chapter for Ondo football, and all eyes will be on Ajayi as he takes the helm once again. Will he lead the state’s football to greater heights? Time will tell!
