Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan has been shockingly disqualified from the 2025 President Federation Cup after fielding players with forged licenses, according to a report by Sports247.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the disqualification in a letter signed by the Director of Competitions, Ruth David. The letter revealed that five Shooting Stars players had not been properly registered with the NFF but had instead used forged licenses to participate in the competition.

These players were part of the squad that faced off against Zamfara United in the Round of 64 match at the Area 3 Field, Abuja. As a result, Shooting Stars has been expelled from Nigeria’s oldest football competition.

The letter, signed on behalf of the NFF General Secretary, stated:

“It has come to our attention that your club fielded five (5) ineligible players who are not registered with the NFF for this edition of the competition.”

The ineligible players identified were:

  1. Samuel Okon (Jersey No. 21)
  2. Sodiq Ibrahim (Jersey No. 27)
  3. Ephraim Nwachukwu (Jersey No. 20)
  4. Nonso Nzediegwu (Jersey No. 23)
  5. Ukeme Williams (Jersey No. 5)

The NFF letter underscored that the use of forged licenses was the reason behind the immediate disqualification of the club from the prestigious tournament.
