The future of Nigerian football lit up the National Stadium in Surulere as the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) U-15 League 2024/2025 reached its thrilling climax. In a pair of fiercely contested finals, Ayisa Yesufu FC and Olufunke FC emerged as the surprise champions in the girls and boys categories, respectively, overcoming more established opponents in a day full of footballing drama.
In the girls’ final, Ayisa Yesufu FC pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the competition by narrowly defeating Unification Talents (the youth development team of Unification FC) by a lone goal. The result stunned fans and pundits alike, especially considering the quality that Unification FC is made of when Unification Ladies had earlier made headlines by knocking out FC Robo Queens in the semi-finals of the LSFA Federation Cup. Expectations were sky-high for the younger team of the Federation Cup finalists to claim another trophy, but Ayisa Yesufu FC had other plans.
