The road to Nigeria’s most prestigious domestic cup is heating up as the 2025 President Federation Cup reaches its thrilling quarter-final stage. Following a dramatic round of 16 that saw shock results, heroic underdog triumphs, and fierce rivalries, the last eight teams are set to clash on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025. In true Federation Cup tradition, all four matches will be played simultaneously across different venues.

Here’s everything you need to know about the quarter-final matchups, venues, and how each team punched their ticket to this elite stage.

Quarter-Final Fixtures and Venues:

  • Abakaliki FC vs Nasarawa United – Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City
  • Wikki Tourists vs Ikorodu City – Bwari Township Stadium, Abuja
  • Akwa United vs Kwara United – Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu
  • Plateau United vs Rangers International – Area 3 Football Pitch, Abuja

From Drama to Destiny: How They Got Here

The road to the quarter-finals wasn’t easy—and in some cases, it was downright historic.

Abakaliki FC became the story of the tournament when they knocked out Enyimba International, two-time CAF Champions League winners and Federation Cup royalty. The NNL side showed resilience and tactical discipline, delivering one of the biggest upsets in recent memory and putting the footballing nation on notice.

Plateau United continued their steady campaign with a convincing win over Osun United, while Akwa United overpowered the youthful energy of Inter Lagos in a commanding performance.

Ikorodu City showcased their growth as a rising club, battling hard to defeat the much-fancied Beyond Limits FC. Meanwhile, Wikki Tourists had to dig deep, surviving a penalty shootout against Warri Wolves after a tense draw in regulation time.

The tie of the round was undoubtedly the faceoff between two former champions—Rangers International and Bendel Insurance. In a classic encounter, Rangers emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win, setting up what promises to be another cracking fixture against Plateau United.

Looking Ahead: What to Expect

With a mix of NPFL giants, NNL surprise packages, and former champions, the quarter-finals promise spectacle, tension, and perhaps another fairy-tale moment. Can Abakaliki FC keep the dream alive against Nasarawa United? Will Rangers continue their quest for another title, or will Plateau United halt their charge?

As the countdown begins, one thing is certain—the 2025 President Federation Cup is far from predictable, and that’s exactly why Nigerian football fans love it.
