Nigerian sprinter Usheoritse Itsekiri delivered an impressive showing at the Johnny Loaring Classic in Ontario, Canada, posting Season’s Best (SB) times in both the 100m and 200m sprints. The 2023 African Games finalist continues to gain momentum this season as he eyes qualification for major international meets.
In the 100m event, Itsekiri crossed the finish line in 10.22s (0.6), securing second place behind Joseph Amoah of Ghana, who won the race with a time of 10.13s. Canada’s Eliezer Adjibi took third in 10.24s, making it a closely contested sprint among three nations.
Shortly after the 100m, Itsekiri returned to the track with equal determination for the 200m. He once again finished second, this time clocking 20.48s (1.0) — another Season’s Best — in a race won again by Joseph Amoah, who ran 20.25s to complete his sprint double.

For Itsekiri, these performances mark a clear upward trajectory. The Nigerian sprinter has struggled with injuries and form dips in recent years, but his showing in Ontario indicates he is returning to peak condition. With the African Championships, Paris 2025 World Championships, and Olympic qualification races ahead, these times could not have come at a better moment.
