Brighton and Hove Albion have secured a major addition to their squad with the signing of Nigerian international goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie. The deal will officially go into effect on July 1, once her contract with French side Paris FC concludes and all regulatory formalities are completed.

At just 24 years old, Nnadozie has built an extraordinary résumé and is widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in women’s football today. Her arrival marks a significant statement of intent for Brighton’s Women’s Super League ambitions.

Speaking on the signing, Albion’s women’s head coach Dario Vidosic expressed his excitement:
“We’re thrilled to welcome Chiamaka to the club. She’s a talented and commanding goalkeeper who will bring consistency and confidence to our defensive line. She has competed at the highest level, including the Champions League. Her experience, presence, and drive will be crucial as we push forward into next season.”

Dominating in France and Rising as Africa’s Finest

Nnadozie began her European career with Paris FC in January 2020, making a total of 118 appearances. Her performance in the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine final became the stuff of legends. Against star-studded Paris Saint-Germain, she delivered a heroic display—saving two penalties to help secure the title for Paris FC.

She also featured in 16 UEFA Women’s Champions League matches between 2022 and 2025, showcasing her ability against Europe’s elite. Her 2024 season was particularly historic, as she became the first African goalkeeper to win the UNFP Division 1 Féminine Goalkeeper of the Season award. She also bagged the D1 Arkema Best Goalkeeper of the Season, cementing her reputation as one of the world’s best.

From Port Harcourt to Paris to Premier League

Before her European breakthrough, Nnadozie starred for Rivers Angels, helping the Nigerian club win the Nigeria Women’s Premier League in 2019 and three Nigeria Women’s Cup titles. That same year, she was named IFFHS Africa’s Best Woman Goalkeeper, an early glimpse of her enormous potential.

Her international journey is equally impressive. After representing Nigeria at under-17 and under-20 levels, she made her senior debut for the Super Falcons in 2018. Since then, she has earned 55 caps, emerging as a pillar of the national team.
