The NLO Playoff stage at Ijebu-Ode produced another twist in Group fixtures as Lekki United grabbed a crucial win over Franceex United, while Ikorodu City FA and Magic Stars played out a nervy goalless draw that leaves the group wide open heading into the final matchday.

In the opening match of the day, Lekki United and Franceex United stepped onto the pitch knowing that anything less than a win would end their promotion hopes. Both sides had lost their opening games and were on the brink of elimination. What followed was a fiercely contested first half, with both teams throwing everything forward, but neither could break the deadlock before the break.

The breakthrough finally came in the 69th minute. Osas Kelvin, with remarkable precision and composure, fired home from a tight angle to give Lekki United the all-important lead. Despite Franceex’s best efforts to respond, Lekki United held on to their 1-0 advantage until the final whistle, earning a vital three points.

The second match of the day was a top-of-the-table clash between Ikorodu City FA and Magic Stars—both victorious in their matchday one fixtures. A win for either side would have sealed the promotion ticket, but nerves took centre stage as both teams cautiously approached the contest.

Neither side could find the decisive moment, and the match ended goalless, delaying their promotion celebrations until the final day of group action.

What Next?

Tuesday’s final group games will now determine who advances. Lekki United’s chances, once faint, are now alive. They must defeat Magic Stars to stand any chance of progressing and hope Franceex United can upset Ikorodu City FA, who top the group and face a side with nothing left to play for.
