The Local Organising Committee for the Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup has reaffirmed its faith in seasoned football administrator Promise Uwaeme, who has been reappointed as Chairman for the sixth consecutive time. His return to the leadership role for the 9th edition of the tournament highlights not only his enduring commitment but also the trust placed in him by the football community in Gombe South.

The Unity Cup, widely regarded as the most prominent grassroots football competition in the region, has flourished under Uwaeme’s guidance. Strengthening Technical Foundations

In March 2025, he successfully completed a VAR Technician and Operators course in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Then, in June, he added another feather to his cap by becoming a certified National Technical Referee Instructor after undergoing intensive training in Abuja.

These qualifications place him among a growing group of Nigerian football professionals who are shaping the future of the game through both administrative and technical capacity.

What to Expect in the 9th Edition

Preparations for the upcoming edition of the Adamu Yola Unity Cup are already underway. Activities will officially begin in August with a Capacity Building Seminar for members of the LOC. This will be followed by a Press Conference to launch the team registration process.

While Uwaeme’s appointment has been confirmed, the complete list of LOC members is expected to be unveiled in the coming days.
