The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially confirmed the appointments of two experienced and widely respected coaches, Manu Garba and Moses Aduku, to lead the Golden Eaglets and Falconets respectively, ahead of significant international fixtures in September.

Following recommendations from its Technical and Development Sub-Committee, the NFF Executive Committee reinstated Manu Garba as Head Coach of the U17 Boys’ National Team. Garba’s return marks a homecoming to a position he previously held with distinction, notably guiding Nigeria to victory at the FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2013. He also qualified the team for the 2019 edition held in Brazil.

Garba’s track record with youth development and tournament experience makes him a strategic choice as the Golden Eaglets gear up for the WAFU B U17 Boys Tournament, which Nigeria will host this September.

In a similar move, the NFF has appointed Moses Aduku as Head Coach of the U20 Girls’ National Team, the Falconets. Aduku succeeds Chris Danjuma and brings a deep well of experience from Nigeria’s women’s football scene. His coaching pedigree includes leading roles with top Nigeria Women Football League clubs Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens, where he built a reputation for discipline, tactical knowledge, and talent development.

Aduku also served as Assistant Coach during the Falconets’ impressive run to the quarter-finals at the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

Both coaches are expected to officially assume duties on Sunday, with their teams already preparing for major assignments. The Falconets are scheduled to face Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, while the Golden Eaglets will compete in the WAFU B Tournament to secure a place in the next CAF U17 African Cup of Nations.

These appointments reflect a broader strategic push by the NFF to ensure stronger technical leadership for Nigeria’s youth teams, reinforcing the country’s commitment to staying competitive on the continental and global stage.
