Ikorodu City Football Club president, Sanmi Doherty, has sent an inspiring goodwill message to fans as the club prepares for its first home fixture of the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Waterfront, Lagos.
The president’s message centered on appreciation, discipline, and unity. He reflected on the club’s historic debut season in the NPFL, where fans consistently showed up in large numbers, turning the stands into a fortress of support.

“It was an overwhelming first season in the NPFL and I want to appreciate the support of every one of you who turned up massively for us game after game, cheering the boys to victory,” Doherty said.
“You stood by us in defeat, pain, and agony, yet remained the loudest voices even in difficult times. That spirit carried us beyond our wildest imagination.”
Looking ahead, Doherty stressed the importance of maintaining the same energy in the new campaign while urging supporters to uphold good conduct both inside and outside the stadium.

“This club belongs to us all, and we would rather do this journey with you at every end of the Arena,” he noted. “I implore everyone to be on their best behavior and to promote the club in a positive light. Welcome our opponents graciously, treat them with respect, but let your voices be heard. Let’s show them the Arena is ours.”
Doherty highlighted the club’s ambitions to stabilize in its second season in the top flight and gradually build towards becoming a dominant force in Nigerian football.

“It is very easy to lose sight of the goal after the season we had last time out, but we remain focused. Our dream is to establish Ikorodu City FC as a major name in the NPFL and Nigerian football before exploring bigger goals,” he added.
The president concluded with a rallying cry to the fans: “Thank you all for always being there for Ikorodu City FC. We are ready for the new season, and with your support, we can achieve more greatness. Let’s go Oga Boys. See you at the Arena.”
