Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan have issued a strong statement condemning the violent attacks on their players and officials during Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 8 encounter against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The tense fixture, played on October 12, 2025, saw the hosts take an early lead in the ninth minute before the visitors struck late in the 94th minute to secure a dramatic equaliser. However, the celebrations quickly turned into chaos as angry home fans invaded the pitch, throwing objects — including stones — at Shooting Stars players and officials.

According to the club’s management, several members of the team sustained injuries after being physically assaulted during the attack. The Ibadan club described the scenes as “unacceptable, disgraceful, and dangerous,” noting that there is clear video evidence to support their claims.

In an official statement, the club said:

“We unequivocally condemn this appalling act of violence. Football must remain a unifying force driven by passion, respect, and sportsmanship. There is absolutely no place for violence or intimidation in the game.”

Shooting Stars further urged the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) authorities and relevant security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the incident and bring those responsible to justice. The club also called for decisive disciplinary measures to ensure accountability and to protect the integrity of the league.

“Protecting the safety of players, officials, and fans must remain a top priority. We remain fully committed to the values of fair play, professionalism, and respect in all competitions,” the club’s management added.
