The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) enters a decisive phase this midweek as Week Four fixtures spread across the country with intensity, rivalry and early-season pressure already shaping the narrative of the campaign.

From historic venues in Benin and Lagos to tough road trips in Port Harcourt, Yenagoa, and Bwari, clubs will step onto the pitch knowing that three points at this stage could define their season’s direction. For some, it is about maintaining momentum. For others, it is a desperate search for redemption.

Benin Test As Edo Queens Face Unbeaten Adamawa Queens

Inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, one of the standout fixtures of the week takes centre stage as Edo Queens host Adamawa Queens in a clash that could reshape Group A.

Adamawa Queens arrive in Benin sitting top of the table with seven points and remain one of only five teams yet to taste defeat this season. Calm, organized, and efficient, they have quietly built a reputation as one of the most disciplined sides in the league.

Standing in their way are Edo Queens, former league champions and CAF Women’s Champions League semifinalists, who currently sit fourth with six points. Despite an away win against Ekiti Queens in the previous round, Edo Queens are yet to truly convince. The expectation around the squad is high, and the fans want more than narrow one-goal victories.

With the quality available in players such as Doosuur Atume, captain Mafisere Kafaya, Sunday Blessing, Dagogo Favour, and Eshiet Dorathy, this is a fixture where Edo Queens are expected to finally impose themselves. Whether Adamawa Queens can maintain their unbeaten run against such pedigree remains one of the biggest questions of the week.

South-South Derby Sparks In Port Harcourt

Port Harcourt hosts a fiery South-South derby as Rivers Angels welcome Ibom Stars in a match layered with pride and regional rivalry.

Rivers Angels have played just two games so far this season but have been ruthless, winning both and maintaining a perfect record. With experienced names like Ramotalahi Kareem, Abasiofon Uwah, Zainab Oduga, and Grace Saliu, they look every bit like title contenders once again.

Ibom Stars come into the fixture wounded after losing to Adamawa Queens last matchday. They will fight hard to avoid a second straight defeat, but containing Rivers Angels in Port Harcourt is one of the toughest tasks in the league.

Bayelsa Queens Aim To Extend Dominance Against Pacesetters

At the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa Queens welcome league newcomers Pacesetters Queens in what appears on paper to be a daunting assignment for the visitors.

Pacesetters Queens are still finding their feet in their debut NWFL campaign. Three matches, three defeats, five goals conceded, and just one scored tell the story of a side learning at the deepest end.

Bayelsa Queens, fresh from a commanding five-goal performance away to Naija Ratels, will be full of confidence. With attacking threats like Nwachukwu Prisca Ukamaka, Kesiena Ojiyovwi, Kindness Ifeanyi, Alaba Olabiyi, and Delight Isaac, the Prosperity Girls will be eager to put on another statement display. For Pacesetters, damage control may be the realistic target.

Naija Ratels Under Pressure In Bwari

In Bwari, the Naija Ratels face another defining home test as they host the Heartland Queens.

The Ratels are still searching for their first home win of the season. A draw against Abia Angels was followed by a heavy home defeat to Bayelsa Queens, increasing pressure from fans and management ahead of this third home fixture.

Heartland Queens are aware of Ratels’ struggles and will be keen to capitalise. With players like Ebubechi Ozuruigbo, Chizoba Johnson, Azeez Samiat and Opara Chimebere, the visitors will fancy their chances. For Naija Ratels, this could be a turning point or a deeper slide into uncertainty.

Strugglers Collide In Asaba

Asaba hosts a crucial encounter between Delta Queens and Confluence Queens, two teams desperately searching for stability.

Both sides are yet to record a win this season, each with two losses and one draw. Delta Queens hold a slight defensive advantage, having conceded fewer goals compared to Confluence Queens.

Once title contenders and Super Six champions in 2023, Delta Queens have struggled since last season and now find themselves battling relegation fears. This fixture represents a golden opportunity to reset their campaign and assert authority against a similarly struggling opponent.

Osun Babes Defend Ile Ogbo Fortress Against Remo Stars

Ile Ogbo is set for a fascinating contest as Osun Babes welcome Remo Stars Ladies in a match filled with tactical intrigue.

Remo Stars arrive confident after a solid away win against Confluence Queens, while Osun Babes continue to grow into life in the top flight. Coach Bankole Olowookere understands the importance of protecting home ground and will rely on energetic youngsters like Tijani Nofisat, Abiona Abisola, Kazeem Naimot and Terlumun Tabitha to challenge the visitors.

With experienced players such as Kadijat Anifowoshe, Similoluwa Okesiji and Chiamaka Ojialor on Remo Stars’ side, this contest could be tighter than expected.

Lagos Derby Brings Fire At Onikan

The Mobolaji Johnson Arena hosts a mouthwatering Lagos derby as Dannaz Ladies face FC Robo Queens.

Dannaz Ladies have experienced every possible result this season, while FC Robo Queens arrive with a perfect record of three wins from three matches. The contrast in form is clear, but derbies rarely follow logic.

Dannaz will lean on the leadership of Solaty Fatimoh and the grit of Balogun Adebola, while FC Robo bring a formidable attacking unit featuring Adegbuyi Oluwakemi, Rafiu Tosin and Oladunni Marvelous. Expect intensity, passion and unpredictability.

Nasarawa Amazons Return Home With Confidence

After two away games that yielded four points, Nasarawa Amazons return home to face Abia Angels with renewed belief.

The Amazons have looked composed on the road and will aim to translate that form into a convincing home performance. Abia Angels are capable of causing problems, but containing Nasarawa’s attacking quality could prove too demanding.

Promoted Sides Clash In Umuahia

In Umuahia, Ahudiyannem Queens host Sunshine Queens in a meeting between two newly promoted teams eager to find consistency.

Ahudiyannem Queens have endured a difficult start, while Sunshine Queens have shown resilience away from home. This fixture offers both sides a real chance to secure vital points and potentially spark a turnaround.
