Inter Lagos FC kept their NPFL promotion ambitions firmly on track on Monday afternoon with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Beyond Limits FA at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Waterfront, Lagos.
The result lifted Inter Lagos to second place on the Southern Conference A table, level on points with leaders Crown FC of Ogbomoso but trailing narrowly on goal difference, as the tightly contested title race heads into the festive break.
Having already done the hard work on the road with a confidence-boosting away win against Abia Comets on the previous matchday, coach Giwa and his side knew that only a home victory would truly validate that result. With other Conference A fixtures concluded earlier in the weekend, the equation was clear. Anything short of three points would dent their momentum.

But Beyond Limits FA arrived in Lagos with a reputation that demanded respect. Known for their youthful energy, tactical discipline and fearless approach, the visitors once again proved they are far from pushovers in this season’s NNL campaign.
The opening exchanges reflected the tension surrounding the fixture. Inter Lagos dominated possession in patches, while Beyond Limits looked dangerous on the counter. After ten minutes, neither side had found a breakthrough, and by the half-hour mark, clear-cut chances had come and gone at both ends.

The breakthrough finally arrived shortly after the restart. In the 54th minute, Inter Lagos were awarded a penalty after sustained pressure inside the Beyond Limits box. Njoku Uchenwa stepped up with composure, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give the home side a precious lead.
From that moment, the contest turned into a battle of nerves. Beyond Limits pushed forward in search of an equaliser, while Inter Lagos focused on game management and defensive solidity. Coach Giwa made tactical substitutions to protect the lead, bringing on fresh legs in midfield and defence to stem the tide.
Despite late pressure from the visitors, including multiple substitutions aimed at injecting pace and urgency, Inter Lagos held firm. The final whistle confirmed a narrow but vital 1-0 victory, sparking celebrations among the home supporters who understood the significance of the result.

Although the season has not yet reached its halfway point, the festive break offers a moment of reflection for the Conference A contenders. Crown FC currently top the table with 12 points, Inter Lagos sit second with the same tally but an inferior goal difference, while Beyond Limits FA remain very much in the conversation with 11 points.
As the league resumes in the new year, the Southern Conference A promises an intense and unpredictable second phase, with Inter Lagos firmly positioned as genuine promotion contenders.
