The Lagos State Football Association has officially lifted the disciplinary ban placed on three prominent Badagry Divisional Football Association officials, marking a significant moment of reconciliation within Lagos grassroots football administration.

Coaches Bishop Lawson Sampson and Michael Adebayo, alongside Mr Michael Toyon, have been reinstated following a unanimous decision reached at a virtual emergency extraordinary congress meeting of the Lagos State Football Association held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

The high-level meeting, which commenced at 8:30 pm and concluded at exactly 9:27 pm, had eight board members and ten congress members in attendance. Proceedings were presided over by the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Hajji Gafar Liameed, whose leadership once again played a central role in navigating a sensitive administrative issue within the state football structure.

According to an official statement released by the Lagos FA Secretariat and signed by the secretary, Mrs Vera Jatto Okechukwu, the decision followed the receipt and careful review of appeal letters submitted by the affected officials. The Congress engaged in extensive deliberations before unanimously resolving to lift the lengthy ban previously imposed on the trio.

The statement emphasized that the resolution was reached in the broader interest of fairness, rehabilitation, and the continued promotion of peace and development within Lagos State football. It further noted that while discipline remains a core value of the association, there is also room for dialogue, reflection, and reintegration when due process is followed.

For observers of Lagos grassroots football, this development goes beyond the lifting of a ban. It reflects the evolving maturity of football administration in the state, where corrective measures are balanced with reconciliation, especially at the divisional and community levels that form the foundation of player development.

The Badagry axis has long been a vital contributor to Lagos football, producing talents and administrators who play key roles in youth competitions and local leagues. The reinstatement of these officials is expected to restore stability, rebuild trust, and allow football activities in the division to move forward without lingering administrative tension.

The Lagos State Football Association reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline across all levels of the game while also ensuring that football remains a tool for unity, growth, and opportunity. The association reiterated that its doors remain open to lawful engagement, appeals, and structured conflict resolution in the interest of the game.
