A Nigerian woman living in Europe has sparked a heated conversation online after claiming that any Nigerian woman living abroad who hasn’t been approached by a European wife to “help” her husband is lucky.

The post, made by Osaremen BO on her Facebook page in pidgin English, reads:

“If you be woman and you dey this Europe and oyibo woman never come meet you say make you help her husband out, na be say you’re lucky.”

Her statement has set social media ablaze, drawing over 15,000 comments with reactions ranging from shock, curiosity, and disbelief to humor and skepticism. While some users were genuinely puzzled about what kind of “help” was being referred to, others hinted at deeper, more controversial implications.

Here’s a glimpse of how people responded:

  • Janet Fagbewesa: How?
  • Osaremen BO (Post Author): Janet, it’s a common occurrence everywhere, even in Naija.
  • Amieibi Ogbanga: How u want take help her husband?
  • Mercy Efe: First time hearing of this, but we learn every day though.
  • Shimmer ByLamie: Help am to do wetin? Folks be lying for content!
  • Udeh Faith: I don’t understand o.
  • Blessing Emeuche Eze: Those of you asking how, it means you don’t read to know what’s happening in our changing world.
  • Ebun Harmeed II: Help their husband out how exactly? Abi ogun wan?
  • Edeh Harmony Akunna: As in threesome ooo for those who don’t know!
  • Oluchukwu Maryann Mbaka: Some people are doubting, but this is happening in Nigeria too, I am a living witness, a lady from Facebook sef!

Reality or Exaggeration?

While some dismissed the claim as just another social media exaggeration, others insisted it is a growing reality in both Europe and even Nigeria. Several users pointed out that certain cultural shifts and unconventional relationship dynamics are becoming more common globally.

But the big question remains: What exactly does “helping a husband” mean in this context?

Some believe it refers to polyamorous relationships or extramarital arrangements, while others think it could simply mean assistance with household or financial matters. Regardless of the interpretation, the post has certainly struck a nerve, revealing how rapidly societal norms are evolving.

What do you think? Have you ever heard of this happening?
