Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has once again addressed the now-viral social media exchange with fellow actress Eniola Badmus, stating that she does not believe Badmus’ apology following her hair-related comment was genuine.

The controversy began when Badmus commented under one of Aiyeola’s Instagram posts, writing:
“Ope, where is your front hair?”

The remark triggered a fiery reaction from Aiyeola, who described the comment as insensitive, inappropriate, and hurtful—particularly coming from someone who has experienced body shaming firsthand.

“You Should Know Better, Eniola” – Aiyeola Reacts

In a video shared on Thursday, Opeyemi Aiyeola expressed her disappointment in Badmus’ conduct. She reminded followers that Badmus herself had long been a target of online ridicule before undergoing a body transformation.

“You, Eniola, who have experienced the pain of body shaming… To now come under my post and drop such a comment? What exactly is funny?” Aiyeola asked.
“You rarely like, comment, or support anything I do. For you to show up with that kind of remark? It says a lot.”

Aiyeola took it a step further, calling Badmus a “zombie”, claiming she acted without conscience and empathy.

Apology Rejected: “It Didn’t Come From a Place of Sincerity”

Although Eniola Badmus later issued a public apology in the comment section—insisting the remark was light-hearted and made in love—Aiyeola made it clear on Friday that she wasn’t buying it.

“I saw the comment. I believe it was meant to be an apology, but it didn’t sit right with me. It didn’t feel sincere,” Aiyeola said in a follow-up video.
“This livestream isn’t because of her apology. I just want to clarify my stance. I deleted her comment because it didn’t go down well with me.”

The actress revealed she deleted her original video—not because of regret—but out of respect for the numerous friends and fans who reached out privately, expressing support and encouraging peace.

“We’re Not Banter Mates”

Despite sharing a 20-year history, Aiyeola emphasized that her relationship with Badmus is not one where such “banter” is acceptable.

“We’ve known each other for two decades, yes. But we’re not banter mates. We don’t have that kind of dynamic,” she said.
“Throwing shade on social media—especially on a toxic platform like this—is not the way to relate.”

Aiyeola’s statement underlines a deeper concern in the entertainment industry: the need for emotional intelligence, even among long-time acquaintances. She called for more sensitivity and respect—especially on platforms where messages can be misunderstood and amplified instantly.

A Public Lesson in Boundaries and Empathy

The clash between Aiyeola and Badmus has sparked widespread conversation across Nollywood and social media. It shines a light on the fine line between humour and harm, particularly when dealing with personal topics like appearance and health.

While some fans feel Aiyeola’s reaction may have been strong, others applaud her for setting clear boundaries and standing up against subtle forms of public shaming—even when disguised as jok

In the digital age, where comments can be taken out of context or leave lasting impressions, this incident between two Nollywood veterans is a reminder that words matter. Intent is important, but so is delivery—and perhaps more importantly, so is timing and tone.

Whether this marks the end of their public spat remains to be seen. But for now, it leaves audiences with an important reminder: not every relationship permits playful jabs—especially in public.
