Ogun State delivered a breathtaking performance on the track to claim the first relay gold medal of the Athletics event at the National Sports Festival, ongoing in Abeokuta. In front of a roaring home crowd, the relay team of Gafar Badmus, Tosin Oyindamola, Samson Nathaniel, and Toheebat Jimoh clocked a winning time of 3:20.65 in the mixed 4x400m final — a display that combined speed, precision, and teamwork.
The tone was set early by Gafar Badmus, whose explosive first leg pushed Ogun ahead of their competitors, creating a visible gap despite stiff opposition from the likes of Victor Sampson. Tosin Oyindamola carried the momentum on the second leg, delivering a composed run that held off the pressure. Then came Samson Nathaniel, who widened the lead with a powerful sprint before handing off to the ever-reliable Toheebat Jimoh. Jimoh sealed the deal, sprinting home to the delight of the home fans and etching the quartet’s name in Festival history.
