Early Lead Sets the Tone
The Falcons wasted no time asserting their dominance. Just four minutes into the game, Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring, converting a well-timed assist from Rinsola Babajide. The early goal set the pace and forced Tunisia on the back foot for the rest of the match.
Despite a few defensive slips and a yellow card for Deborah Abiodun in the 22nd minute, Nigeria remained composed, with crisp passing and relentless pressing.
Just before halftime, Babajide was rewarded for her lively display when she slotted home Nigeria’s second goal in first-half stoppage time, giving Nigeria a two-goal cushion heading into the break.

Impact from the Bench
Head coach Justin Madugu made three tactical substitutions at halftime, introducing Christy Ucheibe, Esther Okoronkwo, and Chinwendu Ihezuo. The changes injected fresh energy and continued to trouble the Tunisian defense.
The third goal arrived in the 84th minute, capping a team move that highlighted the Falcons’ fluid attacking play. Esther Okoronkwo teed up substitute Chinwendu Ihezuo, who made no mistake from close range to seal the win.

Dominant by the Numbers

On defense, Nigeria kept a clean sheet without requiring a single save from the goalkeeper, while Tunisia’s keeper was forced into six saves to keep the scoreline respectable.
