After a gruelling campaign that ended in a triumphant return to the top flight, Wikki Tourists FC have announced a 10-day rest period for their players following promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The announcement was made on July 16, 2025, during a celebratory dinner hosted in Bauchi, where the club’s players, technical crew, and key stakeholders gathered to reflect on a successful season and recharge for the future.

Speaking at the event, Club Chairman Engr. Auwal Gotel praised the team’s resilience and discipline, crediting their promotion to collective effort and unshakeable belief.
“The team has achieved its main goal—a well-deserved return to the NPFL,” said Engr. Gotel. “This short break is to help the players recover after a demanding season and come back stronger for the challenges ahead.”
The decision to offer a break follows Wikki Tourists’ determined push through the NNL Super 8 playoffs, where their performances earned them a place among the elite clubs in Nigerian football once again.
The players are expected to resume training on July 25, 2025, as preparations begin in earnest for the 2025-26 NPFL season, which officially kicks off on August 23, 2025.
The break is a reward not just for the players’ physical efforts but also for their mental strength throughout a season filled with pressure, travel, and expectations from a passionate fan base. It marks a brief pause before what promises to be a competitive return to Nigeria’s premier football stage.
