The announcement was confirmed across the club’s official media platforms, alongside a welcome note that read:
“OFFICIAL: Nurudeen Aweroro is the new Head Coach of Shooting Stars SC. A CAF Licensed tactician with experience from Remo Stars, MFM FC, and Ikorodu City, Coach Aweroro is set to lead the Oluyole Warriors to glory. Welcome to Ibadan, Coach!”
Aweroro steps into the role following the departure of veteran coach Gbenga Ogunbote earlier in the week. His appointment is part of a strategic overhaul being executed by the new club management—an ambitious restructuring aimed at reviving the legacy of a team that once ruled the Nigerian football landscape.

Coach Aweroro is no stranger to the demands of Nigerian football. Most recently, he made a significant impact at Ikorodu City FC where he inherited a struggling team midway through the Nigeria National League (NNL) season. Under his guidance, the team turned its fortunes around and finished fourth—a remarkable achievement for a club in its debut campaign.
His coaching résumé also includes stints with Remo Stars and MFM FC, two clubs renowned for youth development and tactical discipline. At each stop, Aweroro built a reputation for calm leadership, tactical flexibility, and inspiring young players to punch above their weight.

The arrival of Aweroro comes at a critical juncture for 3SC. Despite a passionate fan base and rich history, the club has struggled to maintain consistency in recent seasons. With the NPFL becoming increasingly competitive, Shooting Stars is betting on Aweroro’s hunger and tactical acumen to turn their fortunes around.
Members of his backroom staff have already begun work in Ibadan, with pre-season preparations expected to intensify in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Ikorodu City FC is expected to announce a replacement for Aweroro soon, as they prepare for another campaign in the NPFL. This move is more than just a managerial change—it represents a clear statement of intent from Shooting Stars. With a modern tactician at the helm and structural changes underway, fans can expect a new playing philosophy, better discipline, and hopefully, improved results.
