The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has officially confirmed that the 2025 edition of the NWFL Nationwide will be staged at the Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja from October 10 to 17. Ten ambitious teams will compete for honours in the prestigious women’s football development tournament.

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 1, NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi announced the kickoff date, fixtures, and groupings for this year’s competition. She highlighted the crucial role the Nationwide tournament continues to play in shaping the future of women’s football in Nigeria.

“The Nationwide competition remains a vital platform for clubs across the country to showcase their potential and progress through the league system. We are committed to ensuring it is competitive, transparent, and successful,” Shabi said.

Tournament Format and Schedule

Participating teams are scheduled to arrive in Abuja on October 10, with a pre-match technical meeting on the same day. Matches will kick off on October 11 and continue on October 13, 14, 16, and 17, while October 12 and 15 have been designated as rest days.

At the end of the week-long tournament, the two best-performing clubs from each group will earn promotion to the NWFL Championship—the second tier of women’s football in Nigeria. This serves as a strong motivation for the players and clubs, who view the competition as a gateway to the higher levels of the league system.
