The countdown has begun for Nigeria National League (NNL) clubs as the 2025-2026 season draws closer. The league body has officially announced that registration for the new campaign will open on October 6 and close on October 24, with no extensions expected. With the season set to kick off on November 8, the window gives clubs just over two weeks to complete all formalities.

Failure to meet the conditions could see some clubs miss out on the upcoming campaign, a reality that underscores the seriousness of this process.

Key Registration Requirements

According to the NNL Secretariat, clubs are required to strictly adhere to registration modalities and present a series of compliance documents. These include:

  • Transfer Matching System (TMS) certificates for all registered and transferred players
  • Valid medical certificates for every player and member of the technical crew
  • Insurance certificates covering all registered players and officials

The NNL has made it clear that only clubs who satisfy these conditions will be cleared to participate.

League Sticks to its Calendar

The Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Mr. Danlami Alanana, stressed that the league will not compromise on timelines. He reaffirmed the league’s commitment to following its calendar without disruptions, urging clubs to take the process seriously.

“We are doing everything possible to enable us tenaciously to stick to our planned programme of activities and would not want to be distracted. So we advise clubs to stick with us,” Alanana said.

Guidance and Compliance Support

To avoid administrative bottlenecks, the league has encouraged clubs to liaise directly with the NNL Secretary for guidance throughout the process. The move is designed to ensure that all participating teams achieve a smooth registration process and are fully compliant before kickoff.

With the October 24 deadline fast approaching, clubs have a short but crucial window to meet requirements. The message from the league is clear: there will be no shortcuts or last-minute extensions.

The 2025-2026 Nigeria National League season promises to be competitive, but only those who cross the registration finish line on time will be allowed to participate.
