Queens Cup 2025: Yaya Mariam Hits Six-Star Form as FC Robo Queens Dominate Matchday Two in Ibadan

The Queens Cup 2025 Pre-Season tournament entered its second matchday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, delivering drama, goals, and early statements of intent from some of Nigeria’s most promising women’s football sides.

The atmosphere was electric as fans witnessed standout performances from FC Robo Queens, Dannaz Ladies, and Pacesetters Queens—teams whose determination and attacking flair highlighted just how competitive this pre-season showcase has become.

Dannaz Ladies Maintain Perfect Start Against Dreamstars

NWFL powerhouse Dannaz Ladies of Lagos continued their flying start to the Queens Cup with a commanding 3–0 victory over Dreamstars Ladies, a former NWFL side.

After a goalless opening spell, Dannaz seized control through Tohibat Abdulazeez in the 26th minute, before Fatimo Solaty doubled the lead a minute later. Raji Zainab sealed the win in the 36th minute, ensuring the Lagos side ended Matchday Two with six points from two games.

Dreamstars, with three points from two matches, will need to rediscover their rhythm in the next outing to stay in contention for the top spots.

Pacesetters Edge Nakamura FA in Comeback Win

In the second fixture of the day, Pacesetters Queens of Ibadan overturned an early deficit to claim a 2–1 win over Nakamura FA of Lagos.

Nakamura took the lead in the 15th minute through Adeniyi Ibitayo, but Pacesetters equalized before halftime via Pempe Fidelis. The home fans had more to cheer when Jaiyeola Faith struck the decisive goal in the 70th minute, completing a spirited comeback.

Despite a promising start, Nakamura FA’s defensive lapses proved costly as Pacesetters celebrated their first victory of the tournament.

Yaya Mariam Inspires FC Robo Queens to Ruthless 6–0 Win

The headline performance of Matchday Two came from Yaya Mariam, who delivered an unforgettable display for FC Robo Queens in a 6–0 demolition of Wazbak Queens.

Mariam scored an incredible five goals—finding the net in the 29th, 52nd, 74th (penalty), and 78th minutes, alongside another penalty conversion. Kemi Adegbuyi added her name to the scoresheet in the 66th minute as FC Robo rebounded from their opening loss to Remo Stars Ladies in emphatic fashion.

It was a dominant performance that showcased Robo’s attacking depth and signaled their readiness for the coming NWFL season.

Remo Stars Ladies Cruise Past Phoenix Queens

Rounding off the day’s action, Remo Stars Ladies outclassed Phoenix Queens 3–0 with a clinical attacking display.

Deborah Kehinde opened the scoring early in the 4th minute, Simi Okesiji doubled the lead before halftime, and Mega Cynthia sealed the victory with a 59th-minute strike.

The win keeps Remo Stars Ladies among the teams to watch, while Phoenix Queens will be seeking improvement in both defense and midfield cohesion going forward.

The Queens Cup 2025 Pre-Season continues to serve as a vital platform for player development, tactical experimentation, and fan engagement. As teams battle for early-season bragging rights, the competition’s blend of talent, teamwork, and tactical evolution underscores the rapid growth of women’s football in Nigeria.
