The final day of the Queens Cup 2025 Preseason at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, was a dramatic spectacle of determination, heartbreak, and surprise. Going into the last round of group fixtures, only Dannaz Ladies and Remo Stars Ladies had secured their spots in the semifinals, while FC Robo Queens, Pacesetter Queens, and Wazbak Queens still had a fighting chance.

Nakamura FA Ladies and Phoenix Queens, with no points on the board, appeared out of contention—but football, once again, reminded everyone that anything can happen until the final whistle.

Nakamura FA’s Unbelievable Revival

The first game of the day featured Dreamstars Ladies against Nakamura FA Ladies. Dreamstars needed just a point to progress, while Nakamura had to win by a large margin to stand a chance—a nearly impossible task on paper.

But in a stunning twist, Nakamura FA Ladies delivered their best performance of the tournament, dominating Dreamstars 3–0.
Goals from Oyetola Seyi (15’), Adeniyi Ibitayo (58’), and Fasasi Amidat (86’) powered the Lagos-based side to an emphatic win that revived their campaign and turned the tables in the qualification race.

Yahaya Mariam’s Ruthless Display Sends FC Robo Through

The second match was pure football artistry from Lagos giants FC Robo Queens. Their star forward, Yahaya Mariam, produced an unforgettable four-goal performance, leading the Lagos Landladies to a resounding 9–0 win over Phoenix Queens.

Mariam’s tally now stands at nine goals in the tournament, making her one of the standout players of the Queens Cup 2025 preseason.
Additional goals from Ajakaiye Opeyemi, Rafiu Tosin, and Jimoh Shakirat sealed Robo’s spot in the semifinals, finishing second behind Remo Stars Ladies.

Dannaz Ladies Edge Pacesetter in Late Drama

In one of the most tense fixtures of the day, Dannaz Ladies faced Pacesetter Queens in a match that had all the makings of a classic. The Ibadan-based Pacesetter Queens needed only a draw to advance but failed to manage the game in the closing moments.

Substitute Omeke Miracle struck in the 88th minute to give Dannaz Ladies a 1–0 victory, breaking the hearts of Pacesetter supporters who had hoped for a semifinal ticket on home soil.

Goals from Mega Cynthia, Tobiloba Sharafa, Isigbo Blessing, and Chiamaka Ojialor (hat-trick) sealed the top spot for the Sky Blue Ladies, who finished with nine points from three games.

Despite a missed penalty by Wazbak’s Hassan Sofiat, the match was a statement of intent from Remo Stars as they head into the semifinal stage full of confidence.
