FC Robo Queens have been crowned champions of the maiden NWFL Southwest Preseason Tournament, tagged the 2025 Queens Cup, after an impressive 2–0 victory over Remo Stars Ladies at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The Lagos-based side, fondly called The Lagos Landladies, displayed resilience, tactical maturity, and attacking flair in a final that lived up to its billing.

The first goal arrived in the 26th minute when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi broke the deadlock with a composed finish to give FC Robo Queens a deserved lead. Both sides continued to press for goals in an intense end-to-end encounter, with Remo Stars Ladies looking dangerous on the break but unable to convert their chances.

As the game entered its final moments, Rafiu Tosin doubled Robo Queens’ lead in the 87th minute, calmly finishing off a swift counterattack to seal the title for Emmanuel Osahon’s team.

The victory was more than just a win; it was sweet revenge for FC Robo Queens, who had lost 2–1 to Remo Stars Ladies in their opening group game of the same tournament. The comeback story was completed in grand style as Robo not only lifted the trophy but also swept the major individual awards.

Yahaya Mariam, who found the net ten times, emerged as the top scorer, while Rafiu Tosin was named the Most Valuable Player for her all-round brilliance and leadership throughout the week-long competition.

The 2025 Queens Cup featured eight women’s football clubs drawn from Lagos, Oyo, and Ogun States, serving as a vital preseason test ahead of the upcoming NWFL Premiership campaign.
