Engineer Ahmadu Musa Kida has commended the bold moves of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute For Sports (NIS), H.E Comrade Philip Shaibu, to revamp the foremost Nigerian sports institute.

Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja, during the official handover of the reports of the NIS Reforms Committee, inaugurated in July, 2025, Kida, who was the Chairman of the Committee remarked that the recommendations of his 32-man Committee, which is a 10-Year Road Map would go a long way to help revitalise Nigerian sports.

Engineer Musa Kida, who is also the Chairman of the board of the NNPCL, described the report as a comprehensive document designed to address the key challenges facing the NIS and the growth of Sports in the country.

‎ “This document fills the gaps that have long existed in the NIS. And we sincerely hope that this report finds a little place to move the needle in the very long and big race that you are in, to revamp and revitalize the Nigerian Institute of Sports,” Kida said.

While commending the efforts of the Kida led committee to produce the comprehensive report, the former Deputy-Governor of Edo State assured that the document would not be left to gather dusts on the shelves.

‎He went on state that though the committee is officially dissolved, he would constitute an implementation committee that will involve some of the members of the advisory committee. As he further disclosed that Kida, would be made to head the Advisory Council for the implementation of the report.

‎”We will be releasing a list of persons that will be the advisory council for the implementation of this document and interestingly, the chairman, will still head the implementation. He is not just submitting this report, although the committee is dissolved but I’m setting up an advisory committee that will see to the implementation of this document.

‎”Those that have produced the document know and understand the intention of the document. When you take this document and give it to another set of people to implement it becomes difficult or may die a natural death.” Shaibu explained.
