Obasa Games Boxing 2025 State Champions Emerge Across U15 and U18 Divisions in Lagos

For one full week, Agege Stadium became the heartbeat of grassroots boxing in Lagos as young fighters from the six Educational Districts and top boxing clubs battled for supremacy at the 2025 Obasa Games. The competition, which featured Under Fifteen and Under Eighteen categories for both boys and girls, showcased not only school athletes but also rising prospects nurtured in community gyms across the state.

The Obasa Games have a long-standing reputation for discovering young talents in various sports, and the boxing event once again lived up to expectations. Coaches, parents and fans filled the stands as the state’s most promising young punchers stepped into the ring in search of glory.

After a week of disciplined performances, upsets and tactical brilliance, champions emerged across all categories.

Under Fifteen Male Winners

The U15 boys produced some of the most technical bouts of the competition, proving that the future of Lagos boxing is in safe hands.

  • Ramadan Ayinde of Boys Academy Lagos Island
  • Yussuf Mubarak of Lagos City Senior College
  • Aderinto Kehinde of Lafiaji Junior Secondary School
  • Aderinto Taiwo of Lafiaji Junior Secondary School

The dominance of Lafiaji Junior Secondary School in this category stood out as both Kehinde and Taiwo displayed sharp footwork and clean combinations throughout the tournament.

Under Fifteen Female Winners

The U15 girls division delivered standout performances, especially from athletes representing private and community boxing clubs.

  • Oluwatoyin Amirat of White Lion Boxing Academy
  • Mkpuma Ebubechi of Odogunyan Junior Secondary School
  • Moibi Islamiyat of Ibeju High School
  • Kilani Muibat of State Senior High School

White Lion Boxing Academy’s Oluwatoyin Amirat impressed spectators with her composure and punching accuracy, marking her out as one to watch in the coming years.

Under Eighteen Male Winners

The U18 boys brought speed, strength and tactical maturity to the ring, producing some of the most competitive bouts of the tournament.

  • Kareem Yusuf of Power Boxing Club
  • Ogundele Ramadan of Ifewosopo Junior Secondary School
  • Adebayo Abdullahi of Oke Odo Junior High School
  • Tunmise Adeniyi of State Senior High School

Power Boxing Club proved its status as one of the state’s strongest grassroots development centres with Yusuf’s well-earned victory.

Under Eighteen Female Winners

The U18 girls division highlighted a new generation of disciplined and confident female boxers growing through Lagos’ expanding amateur boxing structure.

  • Nimotallahi Ajayi of Aso Rock Boxing Club
  • Lukmon Amirat of Awodara Senior Secondary School
  • Hawaw Ogunmodede of Team G Boxing
  • Azeez Samiat of Eko Akete Senior Secondary School

Ajayi’s performance for Aso Rock Boxing Club earned widespread praise as she delivered one of the most controlled outings of the event.

Prize Pool for Winners

A total of two million naira will be distributed among the various winners of the boxing competition, rewarding their discipline and encouraging further development.

The 2025 Obasa Games once again demonstrated the depth of grassroots talent in Lagos. As these young champions continue to train and grow, their performances suggest that many of them are on the path to representing the state and possibly Nigeria in the near future.
