The stage is set for another thrilling chapter of grassroots football excellence as organizers confirm eight top clubs for the 2026 edition of the Jagaban Cup No Offside Tournament, scheduled to kick off on March 26 at the iconic Legacy Pitch inside the National Stadium Surulere.

The four day football spectacle, which has rapidly grown into one of Nigeria’s most respected youth scouting tournaments, will run until March 29 and promises intense competition, career-defining opportunities, and a celebration of emerging football talent.

Eight Teams Ready for Battle

Defending champions SGFC Athletics headline this year’s lineup after their remarkable triumph in the previous edition. They will face stiff competition from a carefully selected group of ambitious clubs known for developing elite young players.

The participating teams include

SGFC Athletics
Ikorodu City FC
FC Bethel
36 Lion FC
Broad City FC
Mavlon FC
Smart City FC
Klassisch FC

Each of these clubs arrives with strong reputations for nurturing future stars, and many players see the tournament as their most important pathway to professional football careers.

International Scouts to Watch Nigeria’s Next Exports

One of the biggest attractions of the Jagaban Cup remains its global scouting presence. This year will be no different, as talent spotters from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Brazil, Switzerland, Sweden, Venezuela, and the United Arab Emirates are expected to attend.

For players, this transforms every match into a high-stakes audition. Several past participants have secured trials and professional contracts abroad after standout performances in the competition, reinforcing the tournament’s credibility as a genuine launchpad to international football.

Action-Packed Schedule

Matches will take place daily from early morning until mid-afternoon, beginning at 6.45 am and concluding around 2.00 pm. This tight schedule ensures fans and scouts witness nonstop football action throughout the four-day event.

The competition’s unique No Offside format also guarantees fast-paced attacking play, making games more open, entertaining, and unpredictable.

Title Defending Champion Faces Strong Challenges

SGFC Athletics will be aiming to retain their crown, but they know the road to another title will be anything but easy.

Ikorodu City FC are widely tipped as major contenders thanks to their blend of professional experience and youth depth, while 36 Lion FC remain perennial talent producers capable of dominating any grassroots tournament.

Other teams such as Smart City and Mavlon are equally determined to prove their pedigree and upset the established favourites.

More Than a Tournament

Beyond trophies and bragging rights, the Jagaban Cup serves a deeper purpose within Nigerian football. It provides a structured platform where young players can showcase their abilities under professional conditions while gaining exposure to global opportunities.

With strong coaching support, improved scouting networks, and increasing international attention, the competition continues to play a vital role in shaping Nigeria’s next generation of football stars.

As kickoff approaches, excitement is building among fans, coaches, and scouts alike. For many supporters, the Jagaban Cup is not just about football results. It is about discovering future national team players, witnessing raw talent, and celebrating the enduring strength of grassroots football in Nigeria.

When the first whistle blows at the Legacy Pitch on March 26, another unforgettable journey of dreams, ambition, and football excellence will begin.
