After a short but necessary break to allow players to represent Nigeria in the Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership resumes on Wednesday with matches scheduled across nine centres nationwide.

The restart arrives at a decisive period of the season, with the race for Super Six qualification intensifying in both groups while several clubs battle to avoid relegation.

Naija Ratels seek first win against Adamawa Queens

At Bwari in the Federal Capital Territory, Naija Ratels will attempt to secure their first victory of the season when they host Adamawa Queens.

It has been a difficult campaign for the Abuja side, who have struggled since the departure of former coach Bankole Olowookere. Last season’s Super Six participants have managed only two draws and four defeats from six matches, scoring just two goals while conceding twelve.

Adamawa Queens arrive in better shape with seven points and two wins. Unless the break has transformed Ratels fortunes, a draw appears the most realistic outcome.

Heartland Queens face biggest test against unbeaten champions, Bayelsa Queens

In Owerri, Heartland Queens welcome defending champions Bayelsa Queens in one of the standout fixtures of Matchday 8.

Bayelsa Queens remain perfect this season with six wins from six matches and 18 points. Although top scorer Janet Akekoromowei is sidelined with injury, the Prosperity Girls still boast key players including Kindness Ifeanyi, Florence Alexander, Chinaza Kindness, and Aminat Folorunsho.

Heartland Queens sit fourth with eight points and will rely on Oluebube Umejiaku, Faith Samson, and Nnenna Williams. They have maintained a perfect home record this season and will hope to protect that run despite facing the league’s most dominant side.

Ekiti Queens aim for upset against Rivers Angels

Ekiti Queens host Rivers Angels in Abeokuta with hopes of boosting their Super Six qualification chances.

The hosts have improved since relocating to the MKO Abiola Stadium and recorded wins over Naija Ratels and Pacesetters Queens. However, Rivers Angels arrive in formidable form following a 5–0 victory over Heartland Queens.

League top scorers Abasiofon Uwah and Ramotalahi Kareem will spearhead Rivers’ attack, while Ekiti Queens rely heavily on leading scorer Zainab Ismail.

Rivers Angels coach Tosan Blankson expressed confidence his side is fully prepared and determined to secure maximum points.

Edo Queens travel to Uyo for Ibom Angels clash

In Uyo, Ibom Angels face a difficult task against high-flying Edo Queens.

Edo Queens have accumulated 15 points from six matches and lost only once this season. Coach Moses Aduku returns from national duty with a strong squad including Doosuur Atume, Mary Mamudu, and Precious Oscar.

Ibom Angels coach Edwin Okon believes his team can build on their recent victory over Ekiti Queens to produce a competitive performance.

The newly promoted Ahudiyannem Queens are still searching for their first win after seven matches. Confluence Queens, however, have shown recent improvement, highlighted by a 3–0 victory over Dannaz Ladies and a draw with Nasarawa Amazons.

Sunshine Queens attempt to stop unbeaten Nasarawa Amazons

Sunshine Queens welcome Nasarawa Amazons in Akure in a clash that pits defensive resilience against attacking strength.

The Amazons remain unbeaten this season and sit second with 15 points. Sunshine Queens, seventh with seven points, will rely on strong defensive organization and home support to challenge their visitors.

FC Robo Queens battle Osun Babes in Southwest derby

In Lagos, Group B leaders FC Robo Queens face Osun Babes in a highly anticipated Southwest derby.

Robo Queens lead the group with 18 points and will seek to bounce back from their recent loss to Remo Stars Ladies. Osun Babes, currently mid-table, are desperate for points to avoid relegation danger.

Remo Stars Ladies host Delta Queens in crucial battle for top three

In Ikenne, Remo Stars Ladies meet Delta Queens in a high-stakes encounter.

Remo Stars sit third with 12 points, while Delta Queens follow closely in the 5th position with 10 points. Both teams remain in strong contention for the final Super Six qualification slot.

Delta Queens captain Oweoye Temitope expressed confidence her side is prepared for the challenge despite recent coaching changes.

Super Six race taking shape

In Group A, Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, and Edo Queens appear firmly positioned for Super Six qualification. In Group B, FC Robo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons lead the race, while the battle for the final slot remains intense.

With the regular season approaching its decisive phase, every point earned on Matchday 8 could prove critical in determining the eventual title contenders and relegation survivors.
