Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga is facing a defining moment in his young career after Norwegian club Molde FK confirmed that the Nigerian teenager has been formally charged over an alleged sexual assault in Norway.
The development was disclosed in an official statement released by Molde on Friday evening, throwing a cloud over what had been an encouraging debut season for the highly rated midfielder in Scandinavian football.
According to the club, the charge follows a complaint made by a woman who is said to have had a sexual encounter with the 18-year-old footballer. Daga, however, has strongly denied any wrongdoing and insists the encounter was consensual.
Despite his firm denial, Molde FK have placed the Flying Eagles star on temporary suspension from all training sessions and matchday activities while the legal process continues.
