LAGOS, Nigeria — The Nigeria men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, have officially announced their final 12-man roster for the highly anticipated Men’s AfroBasket Championship, scheduled to take place in Angola this August.

The announcement marks the conclusion of an intense training and selection process, with head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman trimming the squad to its final composition. The players who did not make the cut include Fola Fayemi, Kareem Joseph, and Mohamed AbdulSalam, while Peter Olisemeka was ruled ineligible for the tournament.

Nigeria will compete in Group B, where they face tough opponents in Tunisia, Madagascar, and Cameroon. The team’s opening fixture will be against Madagascar on 13 August 2025, followed by a challenging clash with Tunisia and a decisive final group match against Cameroon.

With the women’s national team, D’Tigress, recently achieving “Mission V” by securing their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title, expectations are higher than ever for their male counterparts. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see if the D’Tigers can deliver a strong performance and match the achievements of their female counterparts.
