With anticipation building across Nigeria, Kwara United Football Club is heading into the 2025 President Federation Cup final with not just skill and preparation but also royal blessings.

On a special visit to the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, the team received not only spiritual and traditional encouragement but also a resounding message of belief and motivation as they prepare for their clash with Abakaliki FC on Saturday, June 28, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

A former football administrator himself, the Emir spoke passionately about the significance of the moment, urging the players to remain disciplined, focused, and united as they chase a major milestone in the club’s history.

“I was once an official of Shooting Stars and the Nigeria Football Federation. I know what is at stake in a crucial match like this,” the Emir stated. “Prepare well, remain focused, and stay united. We will continue to pray for your success.”

The Emir’s words struck a chord with the squad and the management, many of whom have regarded his support as a consistent pillar of strength. Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Musa Abdullahi Thuraya, reaffirmed this during the visit, calling the royal encouragement a driving force behind the team’s confidence.

“If we bring the trophy back to Kwara, the palace will be the first place we will take it,” he promised.

A highlight of the visit was a solemn prayer session led by Justice Idris Haroon, former Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, under the direction of the Emir. The session underscored the community-wide support behind the team and the spiritual importance attached to their quest.
