ull of speed and excitement, Favour Ofili cemented her place as one of Africa’s top sprinters, running an impressive 10.94 seconds in the women’s 100m at the Grand Slam Track Meet in Miami. Despite the race being wind-assisted (+2.4 m/s), the time marked her fourth fastest under all conditions, further solidifying her growing reputation in global sprinting.

The race itself was nothing short of electrifying. Melissa Jeffera powerful performance, crossing the line in 10.75s, showcasing why she’s one of the top contenders in the women’s 100m this season. Tamari Davis, also from the USA, followed closely, running 10.79s to secure second place.

Ofili, whose personal best stands at 10.93s, showed excellent form in the race, finishing just behind Davis in third. Her effort was all the more impressive given the calibre of the competition. Former 200m Olympic Champion Gabby Thomas, who is more known for her prowess in the 200m, showed her speed in the shorter race, clocking 10.97s for fourth place.

For Ofili, this 10.94s performance adds another strong mark to an already promising 2025 season. Her consistency and ability to perform in highly competitive fields position her as a sprinter to watch in the coming months, especially with key meets like the Diamond League and Olympic qualifiers on the horizon.

Her time of 10.94s, though wind-aided, indicates she’s more than ready to challenge the world’s best in the women’s sprints as the season progresses.
