The Unexpected Showdown
The clash unfolded on a ValueJet Flight VK 201 bound for Lagos. According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the music icon attempted to board the flight carrying a flask with liquid content that exceeded the 100ml limit—a direct violation of aviation regulations. The liquid, later claimed by officials to be alcohol, was flagged during pre-boarding checks by AVSEC, the airport’s aviation security team.
Despite warnings from AVSEC personnel and the flight captain, K1 reportedly refused to surrender the item or disembark. What followed was an intense exchange that escalated quickly, culminating in the alleged spilling of the liquid on an AVSEC officer.
K1 then moved to the aircraft’s front section and refused to cooperate further, which led to his forced removal by FAAN’s crime investigation unit. He was briefly detained for questioning and later released.
Caught on Camera: A Dangerous Close Call
As tensions spilled over from the boarding gate to the tarmac, a disturbing video surfaced online. It showed K1 De Ultimate narrowly avoiding a serious accident as the aircraft began taxiing. Both he and airport staff were seen ducking under the wing of the moving plane—an incident that immediately sparked safety concerns across social media.
In response to the security breach, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) swiftly suspended the licenses of the pilot and co-pilot involved in the ValueJet flight, pending full investigation.
FAAN’s Verdict and ICAO Breach
FAAN condemned K1’s actions, calling them a breach of Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Security Programme and Annex 17 of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In its official statement, FAAN emphasized the importance of respecting airport protocols, regardless of status or celebrity.

K1’s Side of the Story
But K1 De Ultimate’s camp strongly disputes FAAN’s version of events.
According to his team, the flask in question contained nothing but plain drinking water obtained from the airport lounge. They described the situation as a misunderstanding that was blown out of proportion and accused FAAN of targeting the Fuji icon unfairly.
They insisted K1 did not spill alcohol, was never aggressive, and fully cooperated with the authorities. They also revealed that senior airline executives, including the Chairman and Managing Director of ValueJet, personally apologized and offered K1 a private jet to Lagos—an offer he respectfully declined.
The Music Legend Responds in His Signature Style
True to form, K1 De Ultimate turned to the one thing he knows best: his music. In a bold, soulful musical response, the Fuji maestro addressed the incident, defending his integrity and reputation while urging fans to remain calm and discerning.

A Nation Divided Online
The incident has since ignited fierce debate on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Threads, and Instagram. While some users argue that rules must apply to everyone, others accuse airport security of being too quick to escalate the issue.
As investigations by FAAN and NCAA continue, one thing is certain: this incident has struck a nerve in the public consciousness and left fans and aviation stakeholders alike watching closely for the next development.
