In what is quickly becoming a major flashpoint between celebrity culture and aviation safety protocols, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially blacklisted iconic Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, following a reported breach of airport security regulations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Speaking at a press conference in the nation’s capital, the NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, confirmed that investigations are ongoing into the events that unfolded on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, involving the veteran performer and flight VK201 headed to Lagos.

According to preliminary reports, K1 allegedly approached the aircraft while holding a golden flask whose contents raised immediate concern. Sources at the airport revealed that ground staff politely requested to verify the flask’s contents. However, the artist reportedly declined the request and insisted on proceeding to board.
The situation escalated when staff observed K1 drinking from the flask, leading to the suspicion that it contained alcohol, a substance banned from being carried onboard Nigerian commercial flights unless declared and medically justified.

Faced with noncompliance and potential regulatory violations, airline officials denied him boarding, triggering an altercation described as a security breach. This led to a brief disruption of airport operations and prompted immediate intervention by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The FAA had earlier confirmed the incident and assured the public that all necessary disciplinary actions would be taken to uphold national and international aviation safety standards. The NCAA’s move to blacklist the artist suggests that authorities are taking the matter seriously and intend to use the case as a precedent for enforcing aviation discipline, even when high-profile figures are involved.
While the investigation continues, the incident has sparked nationwide debate over celebrity entitlement, public conduct, and the enforcement of air travel laws. Many Nigerians are watching closely to see what lasting consequences this could have for the acclaimed music legend, especially in terms of future travel and public perception.
