Afrobeats sensation Kizz Daniel has reached a milestone moment in his music career—he has successfully regained the masters of his acclaimed debut album New Era and hit singles “Yeba” and “Sofa” from his former record label, G-Worldwide.

The singer, whose real name is Daniel Anidugbe, made the heartfelt announcement on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday. In his words, this achievement means more than words can express.

“From long nights in the studio to several meditations, finally, I now own every song on the New Era album 2016 + Yeba & Sofa (singles). I got my masters back. This means more than words can explain. Thank you for riding with me. #NewEra #MyCatalog #Grateful,” he wrote.

For Kizz Daniel, regaining these masters is not just about ownership—it’s about creative freedom, financial security, and preserving his musical legacy for generations to come.

A Look Back: The New Era Journey

New Era was released on May 14, 2016, under G-Worldwide Entertainment. It introduced Kizz Daniel’s unique blend of Afrobeats, highlife, and pop, establishing him as one of the most promising voices in Nigerian music.

In November 2017, the singer parted ways with G-Worldwide and launched his own record label, Flyboy I.N.C. His exit from G-Worldwide led to a legal battle with the label’s boss, Emperor Geezy. However, Kizz Daniel was ultimately acquitted of all charges, paving the way for his solo journey.

In a surprising twist, Kizz Daniel announced in 2023 that Emperor Geezy would take over as CEO of Flyboy I.N.C., showing that old disputes can give way to new beginnings.

Why Getting His Masters Back Matters

In the music industry, owning the masters of your songs means having complete control over their use, licensing, and royalties. For an artist like Kizz Daniel—whose debut album includes hits like “Mama” and “Woju”—this victory ensures that his work’s value and legacy remain intact.

The move also resonates deeply with fans, many of whom have watched Kizz Daniel’s growth from a breakout artist to a global Afrobeats icon.

Looking Ahead

With his masters back in hand, Kizz Daniel’s next steps are highly anticipated. Will there be a re-release of New Era? New remixes of “Yeba” and “Sofa”? One thing is clear: Kizz Daniel is back in full control of his story, his sound, and his future.
