The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, will lead a high-powered delegation of board members to Kaduna today, September 16, 2025, for the 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The crucial meeting, which will take place at Fifth Chukker Hotel and Suites, Kaduna, had initially been scheduled between September 10 and 13 but was shifted forward due to logistical reasons.

The NNL, regarded by many as the heartbeat of Nigerian football because of its role in nurturing clubs and players for the elite division, will use the AGM to evaluate last season’s performance, deliberate on challenges, and chart a roadmap for the 2025/2026 campaign.

Key decisions expected at the AGM include the official confirmation of clubs promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), those relegated from the NNL, as well as teams that earned promotion from the Nationwide League One (NLO). The announcement of the kickoff date for the 2025/2026 season is also on the agenda.

Another highlight of the gathering will be the unveiling of the official sponsor for the new campaign, a development that stakeholders believe will boost the visibility and sustainability of the second-tier competition.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, NNL Chairman Mr George Aluo assured that preparations have been concluded to guarantee a successful AGM. He emphasized that all board members, stakeholders, and club chairmen were already in Kaduna, awaiting the arrival of Gusau and his entourage.

“Everything required to ensure a successful AGM has been put in place. All board members and stakeholders, including club chairmen, are already in Kaduna. I can assure you that we are ready to host a successful and impactful AGM,” Aluo stated.

As Nigerian football continues to grapple with challenges in funding, infrastructure, and player welfare, the Kaduna gathering offers a unique opportunity to build on the progress recorded by the NNL in recent years and further strengthen its reputation as the most competitive and important league in the country.
