Former Super Falcons forward Desire Oparanozie has expressed confidence that Nigeria will emerge as the biggest winner at this year’s CAF Awards, declaring that the Super Falcons and their key players “deserve to sweep it all.”

Nigeria earned multiple nominations across several categories following a year of remarkable performances at continental and global levels. Super Falcons stars Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, and Chiamaka Nnadozie, alongside head coach Justin Madugu and the national team, have all been shortlisted for various honours.

Oparanozie, who retired from international football in 2023 after a stellar career, believes the nominations reflect Nigeria’s steady resurgence in women’s football, particularly after their impressive showing at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

“This is Nigeria’s moment,” she said. “Our girls worked so hard, played with pride, and showed the world that African football can stand tall on the biggest stage. I believe we can win every category we’ve been nominated for.”

The former Falcons captain also commended goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for her leadership and consistency, describing her as “a world-class performer who inspires confidence every time she steps on the pitch.”

She further praised Ajibade and Okoronkwo for their creativity and attacking brilliance, noting that their efforts have helped raise the profile of the team internationally.

“These players are proof of what Nigerian women can achieve when given the right support,” Oparanozie added. “The CAF Awards will just be a confirmation of what we already know — that Nigeria remains Africa’s powerhouse in women’s football.”
