As the race for promotion playoffs tickets and survival concluded in the Nigeria National League (NNL), individual brilliance and team discipline are also being celebrated. The monthly Prostar/Sportlight Hub Awards, in partnership with the NNL, continue to spotlight excellence across all facets of Nigeria’s second-tier football.

April 2025: Wolves of Warri Lead the Pack

Edel FC’s lethal forward Gukut M. Chindi claimed the Highest Goal Scorer award for April, showcasing clinical finishing that helped his side secure crucial points.

Warri Wolves had a double celebration as goalkeeper Efevwerha Joke took home the Best Goalkeeper honor, while head coach Napoleon Ahuma was named Best Coach, a testament to the club’s all-round improvement.

Sokoto United earned the Best Behaved Team award, highlighting the team’s commendable sportsmanship and discipline on and off the pitch.

Solution FC’s Valentine Ugwu emerged as Most Valuable Player (MVP), consistently lifting his team with tireless midfield performances.

Shamasu Mohammed of Barau FC won the prestigious Goal of the Month with a wonder strike that left fans in awe.

In the officiating department, Abubakar Zubairu from the Katsina State Referees Council was named Best Referee, applauded for his consistency and fairness.

May 2025: New Heroes Emerge

May brought a fresh wave of talent and tactical excellence to the spotlight.

Yakubu Wonderson of Wikki Tourists FC emerged as the highest goal scorer, with his goals pushing Wikki closer to their promotion dreams.

Inter Lagos took center stage, with Bala Favour crowned Best Goalkeeper and Coach Shakiru Favour Giwa claiming Best Coach. The Lagos-based side is quickly becoming a powerhouse in the Southern Conference.

Once again, Sokoto United FC won the Best Behaved Team award, proving that discipline and competitiveness can go hand in hand.

Gabriel Olalekan of Osun United FC earned the MVP award for his commanding presence in midfield, dictating games and inspiring wins.

The Goal of the Month went to Aniete Ukoh of Dakkada FC, whose thunderbolt from long range sealed a match-winning moment fans won’t forget anytime soon.

In refereeing, Daniel Amadu from the Kaduna State Referees Council was recognized as Best Referee, maintaining integrity and precision under pressure.

The Prostar/Sportlight Hub Awards aren’t just accolades; they’re vital in encouraging excellence and motivating players, coaches, and match officials across the NNL. They reflect the league’s growing competitiveness and the relentless pursuit of footballing quality in Nigeria.
