Week six of the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL) arrives with a sense of urgency that can no longer be ignored. At this stage of the season, ambition is no longer a whispered hope but a clear demand. Teams chasing the Super Six know this is the moment to consolidate their push. Those drifting near the bottom understand that delay could be fatal.
As Matchday 6 unfolds, three teams still stand tall with perfect records. Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, and FC Robo Queens have yet to drop a single point. The question now is simple but heavy with consequence. Who will remain flawless when the dust settles?

Bayelsa Queens vs Rivers Angels
Venue: Southern Delta University Pitch, Ozoro, Delta State
This is the defining fixture of the midweek and arguably the match of the season so far. Defending champions Bayelsa Queens welcome perennial giants Rivers Angels in a clash that feels bigger than three points.
Both sides have won all four of their matches this season. Bayelsa Queens sit atop the table thanks to their superior attacking output with twelve goals scored and three conceded. Rivers Angels have been more measured but just as ruthless, conceding only once while scoring seven.
The Prosperity Girls boast a balanced squad filled with experience and flair. Aminat Folorunsho, Ojiyovwi Kesiena, Akekoromowei Janet, Aderemi Mary, and Oluwabunmi Oladeji give Bayelsa quality in every department.
Rivers Angels arrive with their own arsenal. Ramotalahi Kareem remains a constant threat, while Abasiofon Uwah, Jumia Adebayo, Polinus Ifeoma, Taiwo Ajibade, and Grace Saliu bring structure and composure.
With renovations ongoing at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, this heavyweight encounter will be staged in Ozoro. Neutral ground removes excuses. Only courage and clarity will decide who keeps their perfect record.
Naija Ratels vs Edo Queens
Venue: Bwari Stadium, Abuja
The Naija Ratels enter Matchday 6 still searching for their first win of the season. Two home draws represent their entire points haul so far, and pressure is mounting.
Edo Queens arrive in Abuja full of confidence. Apart from a narrow loss to Bayelsa Queens decided by a late penalty, the Adaa Edo Girls have been impressive, especially away from home. They have won three of their four matches and look increasingly comfortable.
Atumer Doosuur has been central to their rise with three goals from the team’s six this season. Supported by Chioma Moses, Mary Moses, Adegbemile Rebecca, Olopade Zainab and Offor Merit, Edo Queens possess the depth and sharpness to punish mistakes.
With Super Falcons Under 20 coach Moses Aduku on the bench, Edo Queens carry tactical maturity that could make this another difficult afternoon for the hosts.

Heartland Queens vs Ibom Angels
Venue: Owerri
Heartland Queens and Ibom Angels come into this clash separated by just one point but moving in different emotional directions. Heartland have five points from four matches, while Ibom Angels sit on four points from five games.
Ibom Angels made headlines last week for the wrong reasons following unrest after their home defeat to Bayelsa Queens. They now face a composed Heartland side that earned a credible draw away to Pacesetter Queens.
Statistically the hosts hold the edge. Heartland have scored four and conceded four, while Ibom Angels have managed only two goals all season. With home advantage and calmer momentum, Heartland Queens are slight favourites to grind out a narrow victory.
Pacesetter Queens vs Ekiti Queens
Venue: Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan
The southwest derby takes centre stage early in Ibadan. Ekiti Queens finally tasted victory last week with a hard-fought win over Naija Ratels, ending their frustrating run.
Ismail Zainab was the heroine in that match and once again carries the hopes of the BAO Ladies faithful. Basirat Alatise, popularly known as Omo Ijo Mimo, alongside Odun Olaleye and Favour Godwin, adds energy and creativity.
Pacesetter Queens are still searching for their first win. Their only goal of the season came through Teslimot Balogun against Rivers Angels, and the fans will be hoping for another moment of inspiration.
Derbies often ignore form. This one promises intensity and pride.
Dannaz Ladies vs Confluence Queens
Venue: Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan
Dannaz Ladies see Matchday 6 as a chance to reset their season. With one win and one draw so far, hosting a struggling Confluence Queens side presents an opportunity they cannot afford to waste.
Confluence Queens remain winless with a single draw and have conceded twelve goals already. For many teams, facing them now has become a chance to rebuild confidence.
Captain Fatima Sholaty should understand that the celebration of her return after a long layoff due to injury is over; she must now translate leadership into results. Deborah Bakare, Adebola Balogun, Gift Dah Zossu, Ajoke Akinbo and Augusta Chukwuma are expected to respond with urgency.

Nasarawa Amazons vs Osun Babes
Venue: Lafia
Both teams earned vital away wins in week five and now meet with renewed belief. Nasarawa Amazons will be eager to avoid consecutive home slip-ups after drawing Abia Angels in their last home game.
Experienced players like Olushola Shobowale, Hembafan Ayatsea, Ohunene Sunday, Peaceful Ikediuba, Joy Igbokwe and Daniella Lot understand the stakes.
Osun Babes remain fearless. Coach Olowookere Bankole relies on youthful energy from Naimot Kazeem, Nofisat Tijani, Sharon Shomuyiwa and Robiat Taofeeq. They will not arrive in Lafia to make up numbers.
Ahudiyannem Queens vs Delta Queens
Venue: Umuahia
Despite losing narrowly to FC Robo Queens last week, Ahudiyannem Queens earned admiration for their resilience. Conceding in the opening minute and surviving the remaining eighty-nine minutes without further damage showed character.
However, admiration alone does not secure points. Ahudiyannem Queens are yet to score a goal this season, and the gap between their Championship dominance last season and Premiership survival is becoming clearer.
Players like Eboth Drax, Chisom Samuel, Bethel Moses, Sylvia Iheayinchukwu and Feranmi Odutade must rise now or risk an early slide back to the second tier.
Sunshine Queens vs Remo Stars Ladies
Venue: Akure
This southwest derby carries emotional weight. Sunshine Queens face Remo Stars Ladies in a fixture that reopens old wounds. Sunshine’s relegation was sealed in Ikenne against Remo in a match they only needed a draw.
Since then, the paths have diverged. While Sunshine rebuilt through the Championship, Remo Stars Ladies have grown into genuine title contenders.
Remo currently sit on eight points despite losing last week. Sunshine already lost at home to FC Robo and cannot afford another setback.
Adding intrigue is Remo coach Mathew Wemimo, an Ondo State native and former Sunshine Queens coach. With attacking threats like Aishat Animashaun, Olasubomi Ogundele, Cynthia Mega, Daniella Fagbenro, Deborah Kehinde and Khadijat Anifowoshe, Remo remain favourites.
For Sunshine Queens, even a draw may feel like a small victory.
Abia Angels vs FC Robo Queens
Venue: Enyimba Stadium, Aba
FC Robo Queens arrive in Aba with five wins from five matches. Yet questions linger. Critics argue they are yet to face a true contender.
Abia Angels, currently third on the table, offer that test. With players like Chinaza Enuma, Sarah Iloduba, Obianuju Akwubo, Miracle Usani, Maria Abdulrasheed and Unamba Augustina, they have the tools to challenge Robo’s dominance.
Robo Queens counter with Rodiat Yusuf, Azeezat Oduntan, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, Tosin Rafiu, Opeyemi Ajakaye, Marvellous Oladunni and Favour Nkwocha. Will perfection continue, or will Aba deliver the season’s first shock?
From Ozoro to Abuja, Owerri to Aba and Akure to Lagos, Nigerian women’s football takes centre stage this weekend. Dribbles will be fearless, tackles will be fierce and goals could reshape the table. The Super Six race tightens while survival battles deepen. Matchday 6 is not just another round. It is a statement weekend.
