As preparations intensify for the 2025/2026 football season, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has commenced the inspection of stadium facilities across the country. The move is part of the league’s commitment to ensuring that all participating clubs meet the required standards before the new campaign officially kicks off on November 8, 2025.

According to a statement from the league body, all 36 participating teams have been notified to submit their preferred home venues by October 13, 2025, ahead of scheduled visits by the NNL inspection team. The inspection process, already underway, will assess each stadium’s playing surface, dressing rooms, spectator stands, security measures, and general infrastructure to determine their suitability for hosting league matches.
The NNL’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Danlami Alanana, emphasized that the quality of pitches directly affects the performance, safety, and overall experience of players and fans. He made it clear that any venue failing to meet the league’s minimum standards will not be approved for hosting matches.

“We strongly kick against poor pitches that lower our quality and can cause injuries to players,” Alanana stated. “The Nigeria National League is a professional competition, and our clubs must maintain facilities that promote good football, ensure player safety, and enhance the viewing experience. Substandard pitches hinder our growth as a league.”
In addition to stadium compliance, the NNL reminded clubs to complete their registration and club licensing requirements by October 24, 2025, to guarantee player eligibility ahead of the season’s start.
This proactive approach reflects the league’s renewed focus on professionalism and sustainability. By enforcing higher facility standards, the NNL aims to improve match quality, attract more fans, and strengthen Nigeria’s football structure from the grassroots to the top tier.
