Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi has officially closed the chapter on his storied eight-year journey with Leicester City as he signs with Turkish top-tier club Beşiktaş JK in a deal valued at €9.5 million.

The Super Eagles midfield anchor touched down in Istanbul on Thursday morning aboard a private jet dispatched by Beşiktaş, marking the final step in completing his high-profile transfer. The Turkish club wasted no time confirming the agreement with Leicester City and announcing that Ndidi had passed his medical and finalized personal terms.

According to a public disclosure via Beşiktaş’s investor platform (KAP), Ndidi joins on a three-year contract with an option for a fourth season and will reportedly earn close to €4 million annually.

Ambition Over Competition

Despite firm interest from other European clubs including Real Betis, Valencia, Everton, and even local Turkish rivals Fenerbahçe, Ndidi chose Beşiktaş. Sources close to the player revealed that the club’s ambitious project under former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær played a pivotal role in his decision.

Beşiktaş, who finished fourth in the Turkish Süper Lig last season and missed out on European football, are in the middle of an aggressive rebuild. The arrival of a battle-hardened midfielder like Ndidi signals their intent to challenge for the title once more.

Ndidi’s Legacy at Leicester

Ndidi leaves behind an undeniable legacy at Leicester City. Joining from Belgian side Genk in January 2017, the Nigerian international became a mainstay in the Foxes’ midfield. Over 303 appearances, he registered 18 goals, 22 assists, and played a key role in Leicester’s 2021 FA Cup triumph, the 2021 Community Shield win, and their 2023–24 Championship title that secured promotion.

Even in his final season, he remained consistent, tallying 30 appearances with one goal and five assists.

Nigeria’s Growing Influence in Turkish Football

Ndidi’s move is the latest in a wave of Nigerian stars choosing Türkiye as their next destination. Victor Osimhen’s blockbuster transfer to Galatasaray, Paul Onuachu’s move to Trabzonspor, and Henry Onyekuru’s signing with Gençlerbirliği have added rich Nigerian flavor to the Turkish top flight.

Now, Ndidi joins that list as a marquee midfield figure for Beşiktaş, ready to bring his grit, game reading, and leadership to the Vodafone Park pitch.

What Comes Next

With the medical cleared and formalities wrapped, Ndidi’s official unveiling is expected within days. For the 28-year-old, this move represents more than just a career shift—it’s a new chapter filled with expectations, ambition, and a chance to lead one of Turkey’s biggest clubs back to glory.

As the Super Eagles star embarks on his Istanbul adventure, all eyes will be on how his presence shapes Beşiktaş’s 2025 campaign—and whether this transfer becomes one of the most impactful moves of the summer.
